Client: Nature Parks of Styria

Despite all conservation efforts, Styria is experiencing a visible and significant loss of biodiversity, habitat structures and ecosystems. The extensive management of ecologically valuable grassland areas is declining dramatically. To effectively address these trends, a feasibility study—conducted in collaboration with the Nature Conservation Department of the Styrian provincial government—examined how such areas can be secured in the future, which organizational structures are required and the role farmers play in this process. Concrete proposals for solutions were developed in three workshops involving representatives from the nature conservation sector, agriculture and local municipalities.
