Client: Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
Usually, in contractual nature conservation specific measures or abandonment are agreed with farmers on valuable areas - e.g. no fertilization or a later mowing time. In "result-oriented management" (EBW), specific goals and indicators are agreed on the area instead of measures. For example, a goal can be the "preservation of a rough pasture" and an indicator can be set as "the presence of certain species such as meadow sage". The measures to achieve the goal are decided by the farmer himself or herself year after year. The farmer then documents in the newly developed app what is happening on the area and how the indicators are developing. Suske Consulting is coordinating this new project on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture. To ensure that this new system works well, the farmers receive comprehensive advice from an ecologist at the beginning. The relevant areas are all visited together. More than 300 farmers have already registered to take part in the EBW in 2022, the majority of them received a positive assessment and were advised.
