Client: PM Group, Ireland/Beneficiary: State Institute for Nature Protection
In 2008, the Croatian government or rather the State Institute for Protection of Nature (SINP), which was responsible for nature conservation at the time, started a two-year project to obtain support for the preparation of the NATURA 2000 network and for consultation with the population and affected land users. The project was aimed at bringing accession negotiations with the EU to a successful conclusion, but also at ensuring a good and smooth implementation of Natura 2000 in Croatia. Wolfgang Suske, as project manager, led a team of more than 30 Croatian and international experts from Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany and Great Britain whose task was to support Croatia in developing the network for Croatia. As part of the project the area designation was prepared, a website for Natura 2000 was developed, two management plans were drawn up and 19 brochures and numerous posters were designed. The affected stakeholders on site were involved in this process in numerous seminars and workshops. In addition, three TV spots were produced to give the public an understanding of the goals and background of the NATURA 2000 network. The scripts for the TV spots were developed by suske consulting.
