Client: Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
As part of this evaluation the acceptance (= participation) of nature conservation measures in ÖPUL 2000 was assessed and analyzed in 5 study areas. The ongoing review of the acceptance of nature conservation-related measures in ÖPUL as well as qualitative success checks of the measures are necessary both for the implementation of NATURA 2000 in accordance with the guidelines and for demonstrating the importance of ÖPUL in supporting the two EU nature conservation directives (FFH and Birds Directive). The main task of the project was therefore to analyze the causal relationships between the promoted measures and the results achieved and also to question why the measures are accepted very differently by agricultural managers in Austria. The result was strategic recommendations for the further approach in ÖPUL 2007 - 2013.
