Result-based payments
International meeting in Vienna

The conference will take place from 16.09.2019 to 17.09.2019 in Vienna and will be organized and conducted by Suske Consulting, the association thema:natur and Jordbruks verket - Swedish Board of Agriculture. The host is the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism.

Result-based funding schemes are increasingly being used as a means of encouraging land managers to change their management practices to protect natural habitats and species. In Europe the number of these schemes has been steadily growing in the past decades. The result has been a diverse range of different payment models which have now been tested and implemented across the continent, but, as yet, no organisational structure to tie them together.

The aim of this event is to create a user network that enables managers of result-based schemes (and those hoping to implement new schemes) to come together and share experiences on a regular basis. To facilitate this, we will briefly present the different existing European result-oriented schemes. This will be followed by an open discussion covering the view of the farmers and the transferability to other ecosystem services (water, soil and climate). Finally, we will discuss the formation of a “Result-based Payments network”.
