Biodiversity and multifunctional management in the forest

On the basis of the project "Biodiversity and multifunctional management in the forest", the Austrian Federal Forests are developing a concrete concept for biodiversity protection in the forest, which is based on voluntariness and takes into account especially regionally endangered Red List species and habitats. A new innovative approach has been developed by means of a scientifically based target species concept for the protection of biodiversity in the forest, which has been tested for its practicability. This target species concept enables an efficient implementation of nature conservation measures through biodiversity models with a regional approach. The multifunctional sustainable forest management is in the foreground. These results will be made available to a wider public in the coming months by means of national and regional media work.
