Although not obvious from their name, wild plants have always been used by humans. They are the original species from which many of today’s cultivated plants have been developed. In years of deprivation during war and inter war periods, many of the plants which are little known today were important sources of food.
Due to their flavourful and healthy properties, wild plants can be an interesting addition to the preparation of dishes and products. When used and thereby emotionally experienced, a wild plant can become an important ambassador for increasing awareness of regional identity, healthy products and the conservation of our natural resources.
